Ella

Ella DIY – August 3

Good and abundant breakfast at the guest house, 385 LKR, I do not think I would have found something cheaper downtown. I walk to the Little Adam Peak, too bad a few days ago everything went on fire.

The road to arrive to the peak was not that bad

but nothing special if compared to Haputale. I reach with public bus the Dowa Temple, unimpressive (30 LKR to go, 20 to come back)

Back to Ella, I pay 295 LKR for a tasteless vegetable roti at Down Town Roti, and 80 LKR for 2 oranges. I spend my afternoon at Ranawa Falls, 20 LKR with bus, on the way back I did not pay, the bus was too packed. These falls are nothing special, but it’s fun because you meet a lot of local people, who as usual are kind and talkative

Many people bring with them shampoo and shower gel. Some foreign tourists are in bikini, and are the main attraction among the local males.

Back to Ella, I buy some food to eat on the train, and walk to the station, well in advance, but I really do not know what to do and, in a sense, I can’t wait to leave. The train is on time. Despite the dim lights and the blacks seats, I immediately notice the wagon is dirty

I sleep heavily, until the place near mine, which has been empty for a long time, is occupied by a Chinese girl, who has already been in Kandy, and so shows me all the pictures she took, even at the menus in restaurants. She is enthusiast about the Buddhist Festival. It’s the first time in my life I talk to a Chinese independent traveler, usually up to now I only met package tours members, so I am very interested in her
